John, I love your interviews...but is it just me or is anyone else hearing a serious echo/vibratory sound on your side?
Always enjoy interviews with Simon as well....love background stories.
I completely agree with Simon...in that substack hasn't diluted the experience...IMO, they have simply provided tools to empower multiple enhancements to storytelling.
To YOUR point, if people aren't consuming your text, they weren't your readers in the first place.
For me, all my readers are there to read...but I also have readers who drive trucks.
They love it when I add audio, so they can still drive and enjoy the story.
My videos are for sharing ME with my readers...
So I look at this as giving my content in various mediums so all my readers can consume it in the way they prefer...a d we all meet up in the comments...
Were you listening to the podcast or video? I thought I’d removed that echo for the most part. There were a couple of instances even after cleaning it up when it could be heard. That being said, I have figured out what was causing it and I believe the problem has been fixed. I have bad hearing so I’m probably the worst person to be doing audio podcasts, but ya gotta work with what you have.
It was constant...
Are you facing a solid wall as you do it? That will contribute to the echo...I put sounds blocks on the wall behind my monitor...
I am facing a wall. That’s not something I had considered. Thanks for the tip.
If you have to face a flat-ish surface, face a bookshelf full of books. The spine displace the sound and help immensely...
I listened to the video.
Was the echo persistent or hit and miss?

So much video conversation about how bad video is. Shouldn’t that be not a video feature :)?
What would you prefer?
Probably find a different subject for a video. Don’t you think it’s strange when you complain about the media you use to deliver the message?
